All About Seniors Receives Rave Reviews

August 29, 2006, Greenville, SC --All About Seniors, a comprehensive resource directory for seniors in the Upstate area recently celebrated its first anniversary. The directory, which published its first issue in August 2005, has grown in size and circulation with each edition. The Fall/Winter 2006 issue included 92 pages and more than 50 service categories. All About Seniors has printed more than 100,000 copies. "The support of the Greenville-Spartanburg community and surrounding counties has been unprecedented for this type of resource," said Missy Johnson, editor of All For Seniors.


Johnson Honored as One of Greenville's Best & Brightest Under 35

August 1, 2006, Greenville, SC.-- All About Senior's owner and editor, Missy Johnson, was selected as one of Greenville's 25 Best & Brightest Under 35. This honor recognizes the unique contributions of today's young leaders. Furthermore, it recognizes those that have given of their time and heart to the betterment of their community.

Ms. Johnson has embraced the Greenville community by serving on a multitude of committees and boards. While many focus on the big name causes, Ms. Johnson has made the commitment to be a voice for the seniors of our community as sadly this population is often overlooked and underserved. She has been on the Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk committee for the past five years and for the past two years she has been the chairperson for this event. Last year, the Greenville Memory Walk raised over $86,000 setting a new record for the Upstate Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. This year her committee of over 20 volunteers is charged with the mission of raising $100,000.

Ms. Johnson has also served on the Senior Action Marketing Committee & Prime of Life Committee for the past five years. This is the third year that she has been the Prime of Life Chairperson. As the Chair for the past two years, the event attracted over 5000 seniors each year and raised over $55,000 each year which directly goes to the support services offered by Senior Action, Greenville's Council on Aging. Ms. Johnson has been instrumental in creating and garnering sponsorship support. This year's event netted $69,500 which directly goes to the support of Senior Action's services.


Her passion is obviously for the senior population of Greenville and the many professionals and organizations that serve this population. In 2002, Ms. Johnson played a key role in the formation of the Upstate Senior Network, (www.upstateseniornetwork.com.) The purpose of the Upstate Senior Network is to bring together professionals serving seniors in both non-profit and for-profit organizations in the Upstate. The mission of the organization is to increases public awareness of goods and services available for seniors, encourage better delivery and marketing of goods and services to seniors and provide networking opportunities to increase awareness of each of the member organizations. She held several leadership positions including President and helped to grow the membership from just under 10 individuals to presently over 150 individuals. The group has grown from the one chapter to four chapters - from the original chapter in Greenville to three additional chapters in Anderson, Seneca, and Spartanburg.

Ms. Johnson also gives of her heart, time and financial support as an Alzheimer's Association Board Vice President, Bon Secours St. Francis LifeWise Advisory Board Member, Care Connection Community Case Management Board President, and An Affair to Remember Gala Committee Member. In addition, she supports her daughter's school, the Montessori School of Greenville, by volunteering as the reading instructor every Monday morning for the 4- and 5- year old children.


Upstate to Receive Comprehensive Directory of Senior Services Through Unique Community Partnerships

June 13, 2005, Greenville, SC-- Missy Johnson announced the launch of All About Seniors. Ms. Johnson brings over 14 years of experience in the field of Gerontology to this innovative senior adult-related directory. In cooperation with Bill Sweezy of Striped Rock, LLC, Johnson designed All About Seniors as the first full-sized comprehensive directory of senior adult-related services in the Upstate. All About Seniors provides our community with all of the resource information needed to help Upstate seniors find their way through the maze of services, programs, products, and more that is available.

All About Seniors has partnered with Senior Action, Inc., the Greenville County Council on Aging, to ensure that seniors, their caregivers and families will have this directory easily accessible to them. Carol Lynn Vrana, Director of Marketing & Development with Senior Action, is excited about this unique partnership. "Senior Action's partnership with Ms. Johnson and All About Seniors will be another step towards Senior Action's mission of strengthening our maturing population and their families by providing access to resources they need for their physical, emotional, and social well-being. This comprehensive senior directory will be an outstanding resource for our agency and the seniors that we serve."

Striped Rock, LLC will publish All About Seniors three times a year and be available exclusively through Senior Action and the resource and referral network of Senior-related providers. Quarter page, half page, and full page ads will be offered along with the opportunity to enhance a business listing's presence within its service category. The first issue will be available in September 2005.
